John Renfro President John Renfro is President of Graceland/Fairlawn and Moran and Goebel. He began his career in serving families in 1993. John was born in Decatur and grew up in Lovington. He attended Millikin University and graduated from Worsham College of mortuary science. John is married to Desiree, who was also born and raised in Decatur. They are blessed with four children, three sons and a daughter. The Renfro's live in Decatur. John is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He is currently serving his third term as President of the Illinois Cemetery and Funeral Home Association. He is the first funeral director to ever be elected the ICFHA's president. John is also a member of the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association, Illinois Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. He and his family are active members of Ss James and Patrick Church where he serves as a lector and Eucharistic minister. John is also a member of the Knights of Columbus. John is honored in the trust placed in our homes and cemeteries. David Goebel General Manager/Funeral Director dgoebel@moranandgoebel.com David, a native of central Illinois, began working in his uncle's funeral home when he was a little boy. After graduating high school in 1982 and attending junior college for two years, he began working full-time on the family farm in central Illinois. At the same time, he began to work part-time at a Funeral Home/Ambulance Service in a neighboring town as an Emergency Medical Technician. During his employment at the Funeral home/Ambulance Service he was called on to work visitations, funerals, and assist with removals. It was during this time that David's interest in Funeral Service re-emerged. After the death of his father in December of 1987, David enrolled at Worsham College of Mortuary Science and graduated in September of 1989. After his apprenticeship and five years of employment at a five hundred call firm, David moved to Decatur to begin his career at J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. David and his wife Karen would become part owners in 2001 and eventually sole owners in August 2003. David and Karen live in Decatur and are the parents of four children: Joshua, Kayla, and Jessica Scholes and Carson Goebel. Their family pets are a miniature schnauzer named Millie and yorkie/maltese named Maggie.
